Children deserve safer supervision
in outside school hours care

We’re calling for a sector-wide two-educator minimum to prioritise child safety.

Join families, educators and community members calling for stronger safeguard in oshc across NSW.

Why two educators

What is prioritising child safety?

Prioritising child safety is The Y NSW’s statewide advocacy campaign calling for a stronger minimum standard in OSHC: a two-educator model on every shift.

It is a practical safeguard that supports safer supervision and better responsiveness for children.

Find out why

Why is it necessary?

OSHC services are busy, fast-moving environments. Educators manage arrivals and departures, indoor and outdoor transitions, behaviour support, first aid and unexpected incidents. When only one educator is present, the margin for safe supervision narrows.

Two educators provide constant visibility, accountability and support - and a safer workplace for educators.

What we’re asking for

We’re calling on the NSW Government to strengthen the regulatory framework by making a two-educator minimum the standard practice across all OSHC services.

Children’s safety must always come first - and at The Y NSW, it always does.
